Types of Degrees Career PathwaysWESTERNTC.EDU | 800-322-9982 | 5 • Associate of Science–Liberal Arts (ASLA) Transfer Programs The ASLA transfer programs are designed to help you on the path to a bachelor’s degree whether you are undecided, have a specific career in mind, or would like to earn a two-year transfer degree. ASLA options include: • General Studies Pathway If you’re not sure what major you want to pursue, this is a great, cost-effecƟve way to get started. You join a cohort of students who take general educaƟon classes together for the first year. • Engineering Pathway This 2+2 transfer agreement with Viterbo University allows you to take general studies and engineering intro classes at Western, then transfer all 64 credits directly into Viterbo’s Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program as a junior. • Business Pathway This agreement with UW-La Crosse has you taking general studies and business classes, and then transfering all 58-59 credits into one of seven UW-La Crosse business programs. • UW-Madison Pathway Western students who start in the Associate of Science-Liberal Arts (ASLA) program can sign a transfer contract with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. To enroll in this pathway, you must declare an intent to apply for admission to UW-Madison, meet UW-Madison admission requirements, and meet specified levels of academic achievement. • Associate of Science-Liberal Arts (ASLA) Full Degree The ASLA transfer degree is a two- year degree designed to provide you with 60 credits of general educaƟon credits commonly accepted for transfer into a wide range of bachelor’s degree programs at four-year colleges and universiƟes. • Course-by-Course Select the higher-level general studies courses you need to complete your degree at another college or university. This is a great way to save on tuiƟon if you’re taking a semester off or are home for the summer. This opƟon is not eligible for financial aid. • Transfer Agreements by Program Several of Western’s associate degree programs transfer directly into bachelor degree programs.
